The following is a step-by-step procedure for installing BatchKi and testing the installation, illustrated in screen captures.
- Locate downloaded ZIP installation archive:
- Open the archive in WinZip and click the "Extract" button:
- Make sure that the "User folder names" box is checked:
- Locate the initialization file batchki-setup.ini and open it in Notepad:
- If necessary, edit the variables Perl (the location of the Perl binary executable file) and Apache (the location of the Apache main directory). Also edit the I.P. address (or full name, e.g. batchki.mydomain.com) of your server. The default I.P. address 127.0.0.1 will alow testing the installation from the server, but not user login from other computers on the network. Optionally, edit the administrator's password.
- Save the edited initialization file on disk:
- Start the installation script batchki-setup.pl:
- Type y [Enter] to answer queries:
- Press [Enter] to finish installation:
- Point your web browser to the address http://127.0.0.1/batchki/submit/ (the address 127.0.0.1 will only work from the server itself, not from remote machines). If you wee the screen below, the installation of the BatchKi HTML files was successful. Click the "Upload" link:
- Type in the administrator login name (default: Administrator) and password (default: test1234) and press the "Login" button:
- If you wee the screen below, the installation of the BatchKi Perl script files was successful. Click the first "Browse" button to select a sample data file:
- Navigate into the directory [...]/batchki/test-data/upload located in the unzipped installation archive:
- Select the file data.xml:
- Click the second "Browse" button to select a sample initialization (control) file:
- Select the file settings.ini:
- Click the "Continue" button:
- After approximately 1 to 2 seconds, a link to the main output page will present itself. Click on the link, to open the main output page in a separate window:
- Examine the "Run Summary" page. Click on the test_plate/1 link:
- Examine the "Plate Summary" page. Continue to navigate in other hyperlinked output pages:
This completes the procedure for installing BatchKi under Microsoft Windows / Apache / Perl. Installing on Microsoft Windows Server 2003 is very similar, the only difference being in the location of the target installation directories.
