Program Execution

The BatchKi software package is distributed as a collection of three types of files:

  1. The BatchKi numerical engine (binary executable file batchki.exe).
  2. CGI script files user.pl and admin.pl, written in the Perl scripting language and presenting various graphical user interfaces (GUI).
  3. A collection of configuration and template files.

The intended deployment of the BatchKi numerical engine is to be a part of an entire suite (the binary executable file and the Perl GUI interfaces). Nevertheless, the binary executable file is functionally independent. Advanced users can configure their computing environment to take advantage of this stand-alone nature of the BatchKi numerical engine.

Thus the program can be used in four different modes:

  1. Type appropriate commands, explained below, into the command (console) window.
  2. Embed appropriate commands into a command file and execute it.
  3. Invoke BatchKi from within another software application.
  4. Invoke BatchKi from within the Common Gateway Interface (CGI) on a web server.

This flexibility in BatchKi deployment allows the software to be incorporated into a larger suite of data analysis software, including data file preparation, data analysis proper, and automatic transfer of results to corporate data bases. The integration of BatchKi into the larger computing environment is facilitated by the fact that all input and output files are simple ASCII text files (XML, HTML, and tab-delimited).
