Introduction

The sofware package BatchKi is a web server-based system for the statistical analysis of enzyme inhibition or ligand-receptor binding data. The complete BatchKi system consists of two indepdencent modules:

  1. A numerical engine (the executable program file BatchKi.EXE), using as input one or more precisely formatted XML data files.
  2. A graphical user interface (GUI), embodied as a collection of HTML input forms and mediating all interaction with the user.

This document presents the Reference Manual for the numerical engine module of BatchKi, with only a few minor references to the graphical user interface (described in a separate User Manual).

After installation instructions, this Reference Manual contains a formal technical description of the input data (experimental data, initialization files, and HTML templates), as well as technical description of the program's output.

This introductory chapter introduces the basic purpose of the software BatchKi and briefly describes the computational methods used within the software. A more detailed explanation of these methods, including mathematical equations and outline of several algorithms, is given in subsequent chapters.
